(NOTICIAS de las
Naciones Unidas ) Sept. 28.- La
Organización Panamericana de la Salud (OPS), rama hemisférican de la
Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS), asegura que en América del Norte y del
Sur y en el Caribe se sigue registrando un acceso desigual y poco equitativo a
los servicios de salud, señalando que hay grandes diferencias en el cuidado de
salud entre las áreas rurales y urbanas. Así lo
asegura la Directora Ejecutiva de OPS, doctora Mirta Roses, en su informe anual
al Consejo de Dirección de esa institución, que celebra actualmente su 47
reunión en esta ciudad. “La búsqueda de un servicio de salud equitativo para
todos es uno de nuestros principales objertivos”, dice la doctora Roses. El

protecting the health of children and adolescents and preventing youth violence.
Other initiatives noted are
strengthening gender equality, reducing stigma and discrimination against people
affected by HIV/AIDS, protecting the disabled, improving health care for the
elderly, and advancing programs to protect against and mitigate the impact of
